School Update:
Dear Cambrian Heights School Families,
What a wonderful first week back! It has been such a pleasure to have our students back in the building, filling the halls with energy and excitement. Connecting with many of you, our dedicated parents, has been equally rewarding. As we embark on the 67th year of Cambrian Heights School, which first opened its doors in 1957, I am filled with optimism for the 2024-25 school year.
I want to take this opportunity to introduce "Cougars Corner Weekly Update," a weekly communication that I will be sending out through School Messenger. These updates will also be available on our school website. My intent is to share important school information, key dates to remember, and updates from our Cambrian Heights Parent Association. This weekly update will be a one-stop source to keep you informed and engaged with our school community.
This past week, our teachers have been busy working with students on establishing routines, setting expectations, and engaging in fun activities designed to help everyone get to know each other better. It's been a fantastic start, and I am eager to see the growth and achievements that will follow.
As always, I want to remind you that my door is always open. I encourage you to reach out at any time if you have questions, concerns, or simply want to connect. Your feedback and input are invaluable as we continue working together to ensure the success and well-being of every member of our school community.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to an exciting 2024-25 school year!
Warm regards,
Todd Webber
Principal, Cambrian Heights School
Field Trips Within Walking Distance
Please see our communication regarding class fieldtrips that are walking distance from the school. Teachers will provide at least 48 hours’ notice when planning a trip to a local site. You will be notified about these trips by email.
Attendance
Please see our communication regarding the importance of regular attendance. Included are a few practical tips to help ensure that your child attends school every day and arrives on time.
Subscribe to Receive Commercial Messages
Please see our communication with helpful tips about subscribing to receive email or text messages on “commercial” topics such as picture days, student fees, fieldtrip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches and more. If you do not subscribe, you will not receive these messages but you will receive emails on non-commercial topics such as absence and general notifications.
Office Reminders
If you haven’t done so already, please setup your CBE parent account and register for noon supervision. Also, a reminder to login to your CBE parent account and complete your demographics.
Bussing
If there are times when you will be picking your child up and they won’t be riding the bus, please call the office (403-777-6150) or email (CambrianHeights@cbe.ab.ca) before 2:00 PM if possible. If it’s a last-minute decision and you aren’t able to call or email ahead of time, please come to the office and sign your child out.
Personal Mobile Device (PMD) Policy
A gentle reminder that students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks or areas designated by teachers. So far, our students at Cambrian Heights School have been very respectful of this new policy.
