School Update:
Terry Fox Run – We’re Ready to Run!
Our Grade 6 Terry Fox Run Ambassadors were out in the community this week scouting our route from Cambrian Heights School through Confederation Park in preparation for next week’s run!
Everything is looking great, the weather forecast is looking promising, and donations are already coming in. Thank you to everyone who has contributed! If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, there is still plenty of time to support our school’s Terry Fox fundraising campaign and help us work toward our $1,000 goal.
A message was sent home through SchoolMessenger was sent home on Friday with all the details for our Terry Fox Run, including information about the route and what families need to know for the day. Please take a few minutes to review it before next week’s event.
I was incredibly proud of our Run Ambassadors during our time in Confederation Park. They were respectful and polite with members of our community, took their leadership responsibilities seriously, and represented Cambrian Heights School exceptionally well. They are ready to help lead the way next week!
We’re looking forward to a fantastic day of running, community, and carrying on Terry Fox’s legacy together. See you at the starting line!

Our 2026–27 Truth & Reconciliation Commitment
Each year, CBE acknowledges Truth and Reconciliation Week as an opportunity for students, staff, and families to engage in meaningful learning, reflection, and action. This work supports the CBE Education Plan goal of advancing Truth and Reconciliation by deepening our understanding of the histories, experiences, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.
This week, our staff came together to reflect on our ongoing journey toward Truth and Reconciliation and to establish our school commitment for 2026–27.
Over the past several years, we have been fortunate to learn alongside Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and community members through whole-school cultural and seasonal experiences.
This year, we want to build on those experiences with greater intentionality around learning on the land and place-based learning by creating opportunities for students to learn not simply outdoors, but through purposeful connections to the land, the places around us, and Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing.
Our 2026–27 Truth & Reconciliation Commitment is to…engage our whole school community in advancing ReconciliACTION by learning with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and community members. Through community learning events, shared cultural and seasonal experiences, stories, art, smudging, ceremonies guided by local protocols, and learning connected to land and place, students, staff, and families will deepen their relationships with Indigenous cultures and communities while exploring ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing.
For us, ReconciliACTION means moving beyond learning about reconciliation toward taking meaningful action and building relationships together.
Lost & Found – Help Us Reunite Items With Their Owners!
We are only 14 days into the school year, and our Lost & Found has already accumulated 6 pairs of shoes and 15 jackets and hoodies! At this rate, we are on pace to collect approximately 270 lost items by the end of the school year, and we definitely don't have a rack big enough for that!
We are committed to doing our best to reunite these items with their owners. Teachers will regularly bring their classes by our Lost & Found rack to help students identify their belongings. We will also send photos of Lost & Found items to families through SchoolMessenger every two weeks so parents and guardians can help with the search. If you spot something that belongs to your child, please feel free to call the school and let us know…we will happily help get it back to them!
One of the easiest ways to help us is to label your child’s belongings. Even a first name or initials written inside a shoe or on a clothing tag can make a huge difference in helping us figure out where an item belongs.
With a little help from everyone, hopefully we can keep that projected 270 items from becoming a reality and keep jackets on backs, shoes on feet, and our Lost & Found rack under control!
Volunteers Make a Difference!
We greatly appreciate the parents, guardians and community members who volunteer their time to support our students. Volunteers play an especially important role on class field trips, helping us provide safe, engaging learning experiences beyond the classroom.
To help ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers, including returning volunteers, must register with the school each year before participating in any volunteer activity.
Parents and guardians can complete the Annual Volunteer Registration Form through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the process, volunteers must review and acknowledge the privacy requirements outlined under Alberta’s Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
Community members who do not have a child registered with CBE must complete their registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering this year, we encourage you to complete the registration process early, so you are ready when classroom and field-trip opportunities arise. At the end of the school year, we also host a Volunteer Tea to recognize and thank the many people who generously contribute their time and support to our school. We are deeply grateful for everything our volunteers do to enrich our students’ experiences!
