School Update:
Our Youngest Cougars Explore, Connect and Belong
On Friday, our morning and afternoon Kindergarten students came together for a special orientation day. They learned how to use our library, participated in Music and Physical Education classes, and joined our Grade 4 and Grade 6 students for special buddy activities.
It was wonderful to see our older students serve as such positive role models, demonstrating our core value of Respect as they welcomed and supported our youngest learners. The day gave our newest Cougars an opportunity to explore the school, build connections, and become more comfortable and confident in their new learning environment.
Welcoming Our Mount Royal University Teacher Candidates
You may have noticed some new faces around the school! Cambrian Heights is proud to be a place where future teachers come to learn and grow. We have developed a strong relationship with Mount Royal University, and this is our third year hosting teacher candidates.
This year, we are welcoming six third-year education students. They will spend several days getting to know our students, staff and school community before beginning their practicum from November 2 to December 8. Leading up to their practicum, they will also join us on September 11 and 23, and October 2, 8 and 30.
Teacher candidates bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and additional opportunities for students to learn and connect. Their presence also gives our experienced teachers an opportunity to share their knowledge and help shape the next generation of educators. We are pleased to welcome:
- Veronica Cordova, joining Ms. Harich in Kindergarten
- Navpreet Padda, joining Ms. Auer in Grade 2
- Jake Evanson, joining Ms. Bower and Ms. Collins in Grade 4
- Libby Weibel, joining Ms. Thistle in Grade 6
- Regan Becket, joining Mr. Close in Grade 6
- Brooklyn Stiel, joining Ms. Fethers in Grade 6
We look forward to the energy and contributions they will bring to our school community over the coming months!
Cambrian Heights School Fun Lunches Starting Next Week
Our phenomenal School Council is once again organizing and hosting Fun Lunches for Cambrian Heights students! Through Healthy Hunger, families can order special lunches for their children while helping raise funds for our school and supporting local restaurants. Healthy Hunger is a proudly Canadian-owned company that has helped bring more than $35 million back into Canadian classrooms.
Families can visit https://healthyhunger.ca/ to create or access their parent account and place an order.
This Saturday is the final day to order Fun Lunch for next week, Thursday, September 17.
If you would like to volunteer to help School Council distribute lunches next week, please contact them at cambrian.schoolcouncil@gmail.com.
A big thank-you to our School Council volunteers for coordinating this program and creating these fun opportunities for our students!
Cambrian Heights School Terry Fox Run 2026
We are excited to participate in the Terry Fox Run on Thursday, September 24! Students in Grades 2–6 will run through Confederation Park, while our Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will participate on our school field.
Parents are welcome to join us as we come together to honour Terry’s legacy and support cancer research. Specific times will be shared closer to the date.
This year, our school fundraising goal is $1,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Please donate online through our Cambrian Heights School fundraising page rather than sending cash to school. If we reach our goal, every student who donates or raises at least $10 online will be entered into a draw for the chance to throw a pie in the face of a participating staff member! Names will be drawn during our Terry Fox assembly.
Our brave volunteers are Mr. Webber, Ms. Laberee Lee, Mr. Sadowsky, Mr. Steinke, Mr. Close, Ms. Thistle, Ms. Jolivett, Ms. Inberg, and Ms. Clarke. Thank you for supporting this special event!
