School Update:
Community Activity Day Is Back!
Community Activity Day (CAD) started up again this week! This much-loved Cambrian Heights tradition brings students from all grades together in their House Team clubs: Fire Cougars, Air Cougars, Water Cougars and Earth Cougars. On Friday morning, students rotated through two activities hosted by teachers in their classrooms and other spaces around the school.
From making friendship bracelets and going on a schoolwide scavenger hunt to playing basketball, trying gym activity stations, creating mindful art, making music with Boomwhackers and programming Ozobot robots, there was something for everyone. CAD gives students the chance to try something new and connect with peers and teachers they may not see every day.
During CAD, students also earn House points by demonstrating our core values of respect, bravery and honesty. After each session, the host teacher awards the group a score out of 75 based on how well students included and encouraged others, tried every activity, stayed engaged, followed expectations, took responsibility and helped care for the space.
It was wonderful to see so many smiles as students tried new activities, supported one another and made new connections. We’re glad CAD is back!
Traffic Safety Around Our School
Mornings are busy along Cornwallis Drive, on the south side of the school. Families have raised concerns about parked cars blocking the crosswalk and a few close calls involving pedestrians. This week, a guest teacher’s parked car was written off after it was struck by someone hurrying to work.
Please help keep everyone safe: slow down, keep the crosswalk clear, watch carefully for children, and do not use the staff parking lot for student drop-off. Staff are arriving and backing out of parking stalls during this time, making the lot especially hazardous for children on foot.
Our School Safety Patrollers support crossings on Northmount Drive, but there is no equivalent patrol on Cornwallis Drive. If you see a traffic or parking concern, please call 311. Reports are assigned to a peace officer and can support enforcement and an increased presence near the school. When you call, provide the exact location, time, and a concise description of what happened.
Our Spirit Wear Store Is Still Open!
We’re excited to offer Cambrian Heights spirit wear for the third year! This year’s collection features a fresh new design…a fun way for students and families to show their connection to our school community.
The online store has hoodies and T-shirts in children’s and adult sizes. Whether you’re looking for something cozy for the cooler months or a shirt to wear around school, there are options for the whole family.
The store is open until October 28, and orders are expected to arrive around November 18. Browse the collection and place your order at…
