 School Update:

 Dear Families:

As we step into a time of uncertainty, I want to pause and express my deep appreciation for the support we continue to feel from our Cambrian Heights School community. Our students began this school year with such positivity and energy, living our core values of Respect, Bravery, and Honesty in their classrooms, hallways, and on the playground.

I am so proud of the way our learners have carried themselves and the spirit of community they’ve built together. This journey is made stronger through the partnership we share with families, working side by side to support students.

No matter what unfolds in the days ahead, we know that learning, relationships, and community remain at the heart of Cambrian Heights School. When we are back together in the building, we will pick up right where we left off, continuing the work of growing, learning, and supporting one another.

Sincerely,

 Todd Webber

Principal, Cambrian Heights School

Grade 6 Visit to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Miss Thistle’s Grade 6 class visited The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (formerly Fort Calgary). Students had the opportunity to walk through the site, explore the museum exhibits, and learn about the layered history of this land. They also attended a powerful drama production titled, We Are All Treaty People, which told the stories of Indigenous Peoples throughout the past and highlighted our ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation.

The Confluence, named for the meeting place of the Bow and Elbow rivers, embraces diverse perspectives and histories. It is both a reminder of the long-standing presence of Indigenous Peoples and a place where stories of settlers, colonization, and resilience are shared. Like the rivers that merge here, The Confluence invites us to see how different worldviews can come together, helping us to better understand our collective identity and the importance of reconciliation today.  Check out some photos of their experience on our Instagram: @cambrian_heights_cbe.

Celebrating Respect, Honesty, and Bravery

Today our students gathered to watch the Pixar movie Elio. It was something special for them to share together as we head into a time of uncertainty, and a wonderful way to celebrate the positive start they’ve made this year. Beyond being a fun community experience, the movie also sparked meaningful conversations about our school values of Respect, Honesty, and Bravery.

We encourage you to keep the reflection going at home by asking your child:

  • Respect – Can you think of a time when someone respected Elio and it made him feel better?  What does Elio teach us about respecting differences?
  • Bravery – What was the bravest thing Elio did?  Which moment showed the most bravery to you, and why?
  • Honesty – How did honesty help Elio form real friendships? What lesson does Elio teach about being true to yourself?

Today’s movie was more than just entertainment – it was a fun way to celebrate our community and the values that guide us, and a reminder that even in uncertain times, our school community is strong and connected.
