A Big Thank You to Our Parent Association!
We are incredibly grateful to the Cambrian Heights Parent Association for funding two exciting school residencies, organized by our Physical Education & Wellness teacher, Greg Sadowsky.
First, this December, we’ll welcome Pulse Studios for a two-week Hip-Hop and break dance residency. Students will enjoy five dance classes that culminate in a performance for our school community. This experience will provide a creative and active way for students to express themselves.
Then in the spring, we’ll host Elev8 Lacrosse for a 10-day residency. The ELEV8 program not only introduces students to lacrosse but also teaches them about the sport’s indigenous roots in Canada and North America. With professional coaches and National Lacrosse League players, it will be an exciting and hands-on, educational experience! Specific dates for both residencies to be announced.
We are truly grateful for the parents who volunteer their time on our School Council, playing an important role in shaping the experiences of our students. We encourage parents to attend our next School Council meeting on October 24 to see firsthand the impact of our collaboration and how you can be part of supporting our students' success.
School Safety Patrol Reminder
Now that our School Safety Patrol is in place before and after school, we kindly remind parents to wait for the patrol students to signal "proceed" before crossing. We understand it takes time to get into the routine, but the students are still building confidence and may not feel comfortable asking adults to wait. Even if traffic has stopped and the light is flashing, please wait for the patrol's signal to ensure everyone's safety. Thank you for your patience and support!
Volunteer Process
If you are interested in volunteering at our school please follow the instructions below:
Step 1: You must first register as a volunteer at Cambrian Heights School. This can be done through MyCBE by clicking on the Online Forms and School Registration tab and completing the Volunteer Registration 2024-25 form. You can also submit an application through the school office.
We will verify your identity and register you in the CBE volunteer database. We will email you a letter enabling you to obtain a police information check from the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Volunteers must reside in Canada for a full year before registering. Police clearances from countries other than Canada are not accepted.
Step 2: Visit the CPS online system electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain your police check using your CBE volunteer letter.
Once you register on ePIC, volunteers should wait to submit their request until they receive an email from Calgary Police Service – Record Check inviting them to apply for their Police Information Check. This will ensure the voucher is ready to be redeemed by the volunteer.
Voucher costs are covered for online applications only. If you apply to Calgary Police Service in-person with the e-Pic letter, the $21.25 application fee will apply. If you submit your own payment, there is no option for a refund. There is no refund option for volunteers who have previously submitted applications.
Step 3: Once you receive your clearance document from CPS you will need to share it with us. This can be done through School Engage, in-person or by email (CambrianHeights@cbe.ab.ca)
Each school year you must complete the CBE volunteer registration form. By completing the form, you agree to abide by the conditions that protect the safety, confidentiality and working environment of our schools.
