 School Update:

 Schoolwide Assembly

At our schoolwide assembly on Friday, we came together to celebrate our core values of respect, honesty, and bravery, focusing on showing respect for all members of our school community. We began by honoring our dedicated school safety patrollers, who volunteer their time every day—even on cold mornings—to ensure safe crossings for everyone.

Next, we recognized our Facility Operator, Reina Lopez-Veloso, along with our student washroom monitors from each class, for their efforts in keeping our student facilities well cared for and promoting respect for our shared spaces.

Finally, we celebrated our students who observe Diwali, inviting them to share a video they created about this beautiful festival of light, joy, and community. Through their insights, we gained a deeper appreciation for Diwali's traditions and meaning. It was a wonderful assembly that truly reflected the spirit of respect in our school!

Final Drumming Residency Performance!

A heartfelt thank you to all our parents and families who joined us for our final community performance, where students proudly shared the drumming skills they've been developing with The One World Drum Co. This residency has truly enriched our music program, as students have had the unique opportunity to explore various techniques on authentic djembe drums.

I had the chance to join Ms. Gauthier's grade 3/4 class for one of their sessions, and it was incredible to see the students’ focus and enthusiasm as they practiced their drumming patterns. They were fully engaged, not just in playing but in learning about the cultural roots of the djembe, which originates from West Africa. I'm grateful that our school owns a full class set of these drums, allowing students to keep building on these skills even after the residency concludes.

Pumpkin Patch at Cambrian Heights School

Our pumpkin carving showcase brought out incredible creativity from each class, with students working together to design and carve unique pumpkin creations! The school was filled with excitement and creativity as students arrived in fantastic costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere.  Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event memorable. Be sure to follow the link below to check out photos of each class's pumpkin creations.

Healthy Halloween Habits: A Reminder for Candy at School

As Halloween excitement continues, we kindly remind parents to consider the amount of candy coming to school. While we respect each family’s food choices, we encourage keeping sugary treats to a minimum during school hours. High sugar intake can impact students' concentration and energy levels, making it harder for them to stay focused and engaged. Please remind your child to eat their healthy snack first to fuel them for a productive day. Thank you for your support in helping us promote a balanced and focused learning environment!

Lost and Found Reminder

As the fall season moves along, our Lost and Found collection is growing! We currently have over 30 winter jackets and hoodies, along with water bottles, mitts, toques, and even some shoes that have all found their way to our Lost and Found but haven’t found their way back home.  We encourage you to look through the photos linked below to see if any of these items belong to your child. With winter quickly approaching, we want to make sure these items can be reunited with their owners and put to good use!

If you haven’t done so already, please consider labeling your child’s belongings with their name. This helps us return items quickly and easily to their rightful owners.  Please note that any items not claimed by the end of next week will be donated, so be sure to check the link soon!  Thank you for your help in reuniting these items with their families.

Enjoy your weekend!
