School Update:
Community Activity Day at Cambrian Heights School
Our recent Community Activity Day (CAD) was a wonderful experience for Cambrian Heights students! Reorganized into groups aligned with their Physical Education house clubs (Earth, Air, Water, and Fire Cougars), students had the chance to connect with new friends across all grades while trying out a variety of high-interest activities. Teachers led exciting sessions, including STEM challenges, rhythm games, cup stacking, origami, dancing, and yoga, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm. Throughout the day, students not only had a great time exploring these activities but also enjoyed valuable wellness benefits—boosting their confidence, meeting new people, learning from different teachers, and strengthening their sense of belonging in our school community. It was a fantastic day for all!
STEM Learning with RoboGals at Cambrian Heights School
On Thursday, our Grade 5/6 girls had an inspiring STEM learning experience, thanks to RoboGals, an international, student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in STEM, particularly in engineering. Ten engineering students from the University of Calgary joined us to lead a hands-on coding seminar using Arduino. Arduino is a programmable electronics platform that allows users to create interactive projects by writing code to control sensors, lights, and motors, sparking creativity and problem-solving skills. Our students were thrilled to dive into coding with guidance from real engineering students, who served as fantastic role models and mentors. We are grateful to RoboGals for providing such a valuable and empowering experience, helping to open doors for our students in the world of STEM!
Movember at Cambrian Heights School
If you’ve noticed an unusual uptick in moustaches around Cambrian Heights School, you’re not alone! This month, all of our male staff are participating in Movember, a global movement where people grow moustaches during November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including mental health, cancer, and overall wellness. To keep the fun going, we have a special Movember bulletin board featuring creative student-drawn moustache designs that imagine the perfect ‘staches for each participating staff! If you’d like to support the cause, a donation link is available on our bulletin board, and every bit helps. Thank you for supporting a great cause!
Have a great weekend!
