School Update:

Buddy Day at Cambrian Heights School

Today was Buddy Day at Cambrian Heights School.  Our focus today was about community!  It was a chance for classes to team up, collaborate, and explore the question: “What does community mean to you?”

Students worked with a buddy class to create visual representations of their own communities, sharing stories, ideas, and lived experiences. This activity encouraged students to think deeply about the people and places that support them, while building empathy, connection, and communication across our school.

To begin, teachers led a short conversation about what “community” can look like – from families and neighbourhoods to cultural groups, sports teams, or Cambrian Heights School itself.

Buddy Day is a reminder of why these moments matter…students learning with each other, making meaningful connections, and celebrating the many communities that make Cambrian Heights School such a special place to belong.

CHS: A Destination School for Future Teachers

Cambrian Heights School is quickly gaining a reputation as a desired destination for student teachers completing their final practicum experiences. This year, we are proud to partner with both the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University to welcome several teacher candidates into our building as they take the final steps toward becoming certified teachers.

Part of what draws future teachers to CHS is our welcoming, positive atmosphere and the reputation our talented staff have built for strong instructional practice, collaboration, and student-centred learning. Teacher candidates consistently share that Cambrian Heights School feels like a place where they are supported, challenged, and inspired – a school where they can truly grow.

Having future teachers with us adds tremendous value. They bring fresh ideas and a genuine enthusiasm for working with students. Their presence creates more opportunities for connection, more caring adults in classrooms, more small group support, and vibrant, dynamic learning environments enriched by additional voices and perspectives.
