School Update:

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Today, our Grade 6 students led a beautiful and heartfelt Remembrance Day Ceremony for our school community. Students learned about the remarkable contributions of Indigenous Veterans.  It is estimated that more than 12 thousand First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people served in the World Wars of the 20th century.

Students from both Grade 6 classes shared original poems they had written, artwork was displayed throughout the gym, and representatives from each class laid a wreath to honour those who served.

We are so proud of our students for leading with such maturity and compassion, and for helping our entire community pause, remember, and give thanks.

Calgary Crew Residency Success

What an amazing week of learning and fun! Students loved participating in our Calgary Flames Classroom Crew Residency, where they learned the fundamentals of Floor Hockey and Flag Football through a clear, easy-to-follow structure that helped ensure every student was learning in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.

As part of this residency, Cambrian Heights School gets to keep all the floor hockey equipment, allowing students to continue developing their teamwork, skills, and love for active play.

To top off the week, students had an unforgettable opportunity to meet three members of the Calgary Stampeders – Defensive Lineman Kelon Thomas, Wide Receiver Dominique Rhymes, and Offensive Lineman Bryce Bell – who shared words of encouragement and joined in the fun!

Cambrian Heights School Now Has a Music Program!

We’re so excited to share that Cambrian Heights School officially has a music program – something we haven’t had in over a decade!

Fortunately, we already have a talented music specialist right here on staff. Ms. Heather Andrews, one of our amazing Grade 4 teachers, will take on the role of music teacher for our new part-time program. She’ll be teaching music in the mornings, while Ms. Ashley White joins our team to teach Ms. Andrews’ Grade 4 class during that time. In the afternoons, Ms. Andrews will return to her classroom to continue teaching her students.

We’re thrilled to see this partnership bring more music – and more joy – to Cambrian Heights School!

Winter Concert Returns December 11

Coming back from a long absence in October didn’t leave us much time to plan for our Winter Concert – a new tradition we started just last year after many years without one. But when our staff came together to talk about it, we all agreed that this is a community celebration we didn’t want to give up.

Thanks to our newly launched Music Program, preparations are already underway! Having a dedicated music teacher helps us bring this concert to life and ensure students and families get to experience the time-honoured joy of an Elementary School Winter Concert, complete with singing, creativity, and a whole lot of heart.

Our staff are committed to our students, to this community, and to keeping these meaningful traditions alive. While the concert was originally scheduled for December 4, we’ve moved it back one week to Thursday, December 11 to give everyone a little more time to prepare and put on a truly special show.

We can’t wait to celebrate the season together with you!

Fun Lunch Gratitude

A huge thank-you to our amazing parent volunteers who helped hand out lunches for this week’s Fun Lunch fundraiser! Your time, energy, and smiles made everything run so smoothly. We’re also so grateful to our School Council for organizing this special treat for students – it’s such a fun way to build community and raise funds that go right back into supporting our students’ learning at Cambrian Heights School.

Have a great Fall break!
