If you’ve volunteered with us in any way this year, we’d love for you to join us as we celebrate YOU, the true gems of Cambrian Heights School!

 Date: Thursday, May 22, 2025
Time: 1:00–2:00 pm

Healthy Hunger Subway Lunch – Next Thursday!
We’re excited to announce that our next Healthy Hunger Subway Lunch is happening on Thursday, May 15! If you’d like your child to participate, please make sure to place your order by this Saturday.

Visit https://healthyhunger.ca/ to place your order. Not only will your child enjoy a delicious meal, but part of the proceeds also go towards supporting our school.

A big thank you to our School Council for organizing this event and to the amazing parent volunteers who distribute the lunches and manage the process.

Thank you for helping us fundraise while enjoying a tasty lunch. We appreciate your support!

No School Next Friday…So What Are the Teachers Up To?

On Friday, May 16, 2025, there will be no school for students as all staff at Cambrian Heights School will be participating in the 9th Annual Moo’kaaksin – a dedicated day of professional learning focused on deepening our understanding and practices in Indigenous Ways of Being, Belonging, Doing, and Knowing.

The name moo’kaaksin, meaning “a knowledge gathering,” was gifted to all participating schools in a ceremony on Nose Hill by saa’kokoto (Elder Randy Bottle) in 2016. This year’s theme, A’ksana’kiip – Acknowledging Our Past and Moving Forward Together, encourages us to reflect on our journey of knowledge gathering and continue building connections toward Truth and Reconciliation. Much of this year’s learning will take place on the land, embracing the spirit of connection and growth.

We are proud to continue this important work alongside our community as we move forward together.

 Have a wonderful weekend!

Our Casino Fundraiser is coming up quickly and we need your help!

URGENT – Volunteers Needed to Secure $80,000 for Cambrian Heights School!

Dear Cambrian Heights Families,

This is an urgent plea for your support. I’m reaching out today with a heartfelt request for your help. On May 19 and 20, our school community has a unique opportunity to volunteer our time at the Elbow River Casino – a two-day event that directly brings in nearly $80,000 for our students. Yes, you read that right – $80,000 that goes right back into enriching the learning experiences of your children.

We currently have 19 spots filled, but we still need 17 more volunteers to make this happen. Without these volunteers, we stand to lose this incredible source of funding. Let me paint you a picture of what this money does for our school:

  • It reduces the cost of field trips, making them more affordable and accessible for all families.  For example, this school year, our past casino earnings are funding over 16 thousand dollars worth of swimming lessons for all students in grades 1-6.
  • Casino funding pays for essential technology, including robotics kits, laptops, and digital displays that bring learning to life.
  • Casino funding provides beautiful new books and comfortable furniture that make our classrooms more welcoming and engaging.
  • And this year, if we’re able to secure our casino funding, we’re planning a complete transformation of our school library into a modern, vibrant space – a hub for student learning and creativity. Picture flexible seating, interactive technology, and welcoming spaces for exploration and collaboration. It will become a centerpiece for innovation and inspiration at Cambrian Heights School.

But this vision can only become a reality if we secure enough volunteers for May 19 and 20. Our School Council has worked tirelessly to adjust schedules, covering more late-night shifts themselves to free up daytime slots. Now, we just need your help to fill in the gaps.

We need you, and we need your friends, family, grandparents, neighbors – anyone who is over 18 that can volunteer.

Volunteering at the casino is not only incredibly impactful – it’s also fun! You’ll be spending time with staff and parents from Cambrian Heights School, enjoying a free meal, free snacks throughout your shift, and the chance to support our students in a meaningful way.

To show our appreciation, anyone who volunteers will receive preferred front-row seating at our 2025 Winter Concert, along with a vintage Cambrian Heights School T-shirt – a small token of our immense gratitude.

Please consider donating a bit of your time to help make a lasting impact for our students. It’s a few hours of your time, but it means everything to our school community.

If you’re able to help, please scan the QR code below with the camera on your cellphone or follow the link below to sign up.  If you have any questions, please email the council at Cambrian.schoolcouncil@gmail.com

Thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to our school.

Sincerely,

 Todd Webber
