School Update:
Introducing Our Esports Club!
Exciting news for Cambrian Heights School! The Calgary Board of Education has approved the use of Nintendo Switch in schools, and we’re thrilled to launch our very own Cambrian Heights School Esports Club! We’ve purchased a Nintendo Switch along with a selection of school-appropriate games, and we’re ready to play!
Mr. Dang (Grade 3/4) and Ms. Greig (Grade 1) are leading this exciting new initiative, organizing a schedule for all classes to participate. Esports Club offers a fun and engaging space where students can connect, strategize, and develop teamwork skills through gaming. Each week, a different class will have the chance to play during lunch recess, explore new games, and work together to build creativity, problem-solving, sportsmanship, and collaboration skills – all while having fun!
School Assembly Highlights: Celebrating Community!
On the last day before Spring Break, Cambrian Heights School gathered for a memorable assembly filled with learning, celebration, and inspiration. A group of students shared a powerful video created with the help of Ms. Thistle, featuring students from across the school, that celebrate Ramadan. We learned that Ramadan happens during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a time for fasting, gratitude, and helping others. Students from various classes also shared their personal experiences of what Ramadan means to them and their favorite aspects of the celebration. You can view the video by scanning the QR code located on the world map in the school foyer.
The assembly continued with Mr. Sadowsky awarding prizes to students who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart initiative – thank you to everyone who contributed to this great cause!
Then, Grade 6 students who attended Outdoor School at Camp Chief Hector in March shared a slideshow of their adventure, sparking excitement for future Grade 6 students who will have the opportunity to experience it.
We ended the assembly with a special video performance introduced by Ms. Gauthier, one of our Grade 3/4 teachers who is also a dancer with Madhuban Performing Arts. She shared a dance piece created in honor of Women’s Day, celebrating women around the world and the strength that comes from unity and resilience.
As we wrapped up, we reminded students to enjoy their Spring Break, get outside to breathe in the fresh air, be active, and, most importantly, stay safe and kind in their communities. We can’t wait to see everyone back at school refreshed and ready for the rest of the year!
Assurance Survey – Grade 4 Parents.
If you have a child in grades 4, you should have received a request to complete an Alberta Education Assurance Survey. If you haven’t done so already, please take the time to fill out this important survey. We use data from this survey to plan for the next school year and would like to have representation from our entire grade 4 community.
Please click here to access the survey. The unique access code will be in the email you received from Alberta Education, asking you to complete the survey. The deadline for completion is March 28, 2025.
Have a fantastic Spring Break!
