 School Update:

Big Win for Cambrian Heights School Cricket Star!

We’re sending a huge congratulations to Supreet, one of our outstanding Grade 5 students, who recently competed in the Alberta Women’s Open Cricket Championships in Edmonton. Supreet was the youngest player on her team – just 10 years old – competing alongside adults as old as 25!

Not only did she hold her own, she shone. Supreet earned the Best Fielder award in the Junior Division and helped lead her team to first place overall, claiming the Alberta Women’s Open Championship title.

As if that wasn’t enough, she was also awarded the Valley Challenge Cup medal for her performance this season –  and took home a brand-new set of cricket pads!

Way to go, Supreet! We’re so proud of your accomplishments, your courage, and your love for the game!

Honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day at Cambrian Heights

Today at Cambrian Heights School, we marked National Indigenous Peoples Day with a school-wide moment of reflection and celebration. As part of this special day, we played our Cambrian Heights School Flag Song — a powerful gift to our school community.

Last week, Blackfoot Knowledge Keeper Skip Wolfleg Jr. visited our school to gift us the Flag Song and help us understand the meaning behind this song. A Flag Song is traditionally sung to honour the land, the people, and the journeys we take. It is often shared at the beginning or end of something important – making it especially meaningful to play today on our last Friday together before summer break.

We invited students and staff to stand as a sign of respect, and to reflect on the teachings, relationships, and growth that have shaped our year – especially in our learning about Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing, and belonging.

Moving forward, we will play our school Flag Song weekly to help ground our community in respect, connection, and the shared responsibility of reconciliation.

 Swimming Success at Highwood Pool

From brisk mornings to sunny skies, our students marched to Highwood Pool every day with determination and perseverance, proving that a little prairie weather can’t dampen a determined spirit. Once in the water, students splashed through strokes, floats, and safety drills – coming away with a life skill that will stick long after the towels dry.

Huge gratitude to Highwood Pool for being such a welcoming host and to our amazing School Council for their financial support. Thanks as well to parents who have been managing wet towels and bathing suits in backpacks for the past two weeks!

Here’s to confident swimmers, stronger lungs, and memories to last a lifetime.

 Have a wonderful weekend!
