School Update:

Grade 4 Poetry Café

On Wednesday, December 17, our Grade 4 classes hosted a Poetry Café at the school.  It was a wonderful celebration of original writing, oral expression, and storytelling. Over the past several weeks, students explored seven different types of poetry and deepened their understanding of figurative language to create powerful images through words.

After lots of practice with their Grade 5 and 6 buddies, our Grade 4 students shared their chosen original poems at the Poetry Café with parents who joined us at the school. It was a joyful and meaningful learning experience that highlighted creativity, confidence, and courageous speaking.

Well done to our Grade 4 poets and thank you to the families who were able to attend and support our students. A selection of the poems can be viewed on our Publisher’s Showcase bulletin board in the school.

Food Bank Donations – Thank you!!

Thank you to our amazing CHS community for the generous food bank donations that have been coming in all week. Your kindness and care for others truly reflect the heart of our school community.

All donations will be delivered after school today. We are so grateful for the compassion and generosity shown by our students, families, and staff.

A Message from the Principal – Closing Out 2025

As we head into Winter Break, I want to share my sincere gratitude for the incredible Cambrian Heights community. It is truly a privilege to serve a school filled with such supportive families, engaged students, and a dedicated, caring staff. Thank you for the trust you place in us every day and for the many ways you show up for our school.

Our staff is excited for the second half of the 2025–26 school year, and there is so much to look forward to. In the months ahead, we’ll gather for an Indigenous Drumming experience to honour the Winter Solstice, continue our Community Activity Days, and welcome families back into the school for our annual STEM Night Challenge. There will also be many opportunities for connection and fun, including a Teachers vs. Students basketball game followed by a Grade 6 basketball tournament, ongoing intramurals, gaming club, and class field trips already on the calendar…including the overnight Outdoor School experience for Grade 6 students!

Most importantly, we remain focused on creating engaging, meaningful learning experiences where students feel connected, challenged, and proud of their growth.

Thank you for an amazing first half of the year. Wishing all of our families a restful, joyful break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in January!

Take good care,

Todd Webber
