School Update:

Campus Calgary / Open Minds Experiences!

This week, we had two classes participate in Campus Calgary/Open Minds (CCOM).  This is an incredible program that takes learning out of the classroom and into the community for a full week.  There are multiple venues available, where teachers work with community partners to plan a week that’s designed just for their class. The combination of real-world experiences, time to reflect, and exploring ideas beyond regular subjects makes it such a valuable opportunity for students to grow and learn in new ways.

Ms. Greig’s Class: City Eco-Action School
Ms. Greig’s class spent the week at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary for their CCOM experience. This biodiverse oasis on the Bow River is home to over 270 bird species and showcases incredible examples of wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship. The students explored riparian forests, and the Nature Centre while learning how to support wildlife in an urban environment.

Click here to see some photos of their learning adventures.  A huge thank-you to the parent volunteers who helped make this experience possible!

Ms. Gauthier’s Class: 2School: An Urban Experience
Ms. Gauthier’s class participated in the 2School program for their CCOM experience, which uses the downtown urban environment as a classroom. Based at the CBE Education Centre in the Beltline, students explored the vibrant inner city while celebrating public education and its role in our community.

A highlight of their week was meeting School Trustees and the Chief Superintendent of the CBE. Students asked thoughtful questions such as, "How do you make fair decisions?" and "What is your most important role?"

Finally, thank you to the teachers for their hard work in securing spots in these programs as they involve an extensive and competitive application process.

Upcoming STEAM Family Evening at Cambrian Heights School

You are invited to our Cambrian Heights School STEAM family evening on Thursday, February 20 from 6:00PM - 7:30PM.  STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

STEAM learning and the Design Thinking process go hand in hand, with five key steps: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Join us for an evening of hands-on fun where you and your child, along with other families, will tackle a STEAM design and building challenge. Get ready to dive in and create together!

All students must have a family member who is 18+ to supervise during this evening.  Please complete the 2-minute RSVP below to let us know how many people from your family to expect. There is no charge for the evening.

Click here for the RSVP link.

Report Cards Available to View Online Monday, Jan. 27

Term 1 report cards will be available to view online starting this Monday. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s report card, we encourage you to reach out directly to your child’s teacher.
