School Update:

Pulse Studio Dance Residency – Grand Finale!

This week marked the final week of our Pulse Dance Studio residency, and what an incredible journey it has been. Over the past two weeks, students worked with dedication, focus, and enthusiasm to learn choreography, build confidence, and prepare for our dance showcase. Their hard work truly shone on stage, and it was such a joy to see their growth as performers and as a community.

We are so grateful to the many parents and family members who were able to join us for the showcase and celebrate our students’ efforts. Your presence and support meant so much to our dancers and helped make the experience even more meaningful.

Dance plays an important role in supporting student well-being, confidence, coordination, and self-expression, and opportunities like this allow students to take creative risks, collaborate with peers, and experience the joy of movement.

A huge thank you to our generous School Council for funding this residency. This experience would not have been possible without their continued support and commitment to enriching learning opportunities for our students.

Be sure to check out our Instagram (@Cambrian_Heights_CBE) to see highlights from the showcase, including video clips from one of the performances – and a special moment featuring our Hip Hop instructor, Eli, bringing the energy on the dance floor!

Leighton Art Centre In-School Field Trip

This past Wednesday and Thursday, our Grade 4 students had the opportunity to take part in an in-class field trip with the Leighton Art Centre, bringing museum learning directly into our classrooms. Having expert artists and educators work alongside students adds incredible depth to learning, allowing children to engage with authentic materials, ideas, and creative processes in meaningful ways.

Students were able to see and carefully handle artifacts from the museum’s collection, sparking curiosity and rich conversations. They also explored bio facts from local Foothills animals found on the Leighton property, helping connect art, nature, and place-based learning.

With guidance from Leighton Art Centre experts, students learned fundamental sketching techniques and artistic processes before expressing their creativity through the art of needle felting. This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, focus, and confidence, while showing students that learning is even more powerful when experts share their passion and knowledge.

Experiences like this remind us how valuable partnerships with community organizations are in enriching student learning and inspiring young artists.

Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth Lunchtime Club Resumes

This week, we were excited to welcome back the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) back to Cambrian Heights School as they resumed their weekly lunchtime club for students. CBFY is a community organization that supports newcomer students and their families as they adjust to life in Calgary and navigate the school system.

Each week, the CBFY team comes into our school to connect with students through engaging activities designed to build confidence, foster friendships, and create a strong sense of belonging. These opportunities support students not only socially but also academically, as they feel more connected, supported, and ready to learn.

We are grateful for this ongoing partnership and the important role CBFY plays in helping our students feel welcomed, valued, and successful within our school community.

With gratitude,

Todd Webber

Principal, Cambrian Heights School
