School Update:
Welcoming our Mount Royal Student Teachers
We are excited to welcome four student teachers from Mount Royal University who will be joining us from January to April. These fourth-year Bachelor of Education students will be working closely with our staff, learning from their expertise while bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our classrooms.
Hosting student teachers is something I deeply value, as it creates a rich opportunity for collaboration, mentorship, and the sharing of innovative teaching practices. It also provides our students with the benefit of additional role models and support in their learning journey.
We look forward to supporting and learning alongside these future educators during their time at Cambrian Heights!
Community Activity Day Brings Students Together!
Today, we held our second Community Activity Day, where students from all grades (K-6) were mixed into new groups to enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities. Students rotated through two exciting stations, with teachers offering activities such as cup stacking, robotics, origami, karaoke, rhythm games, and dancing, to name a few!
These special days are all about enhancing a sense of belonging within our school community. By meeting and working with new peers and connecting with different teachers, students build relationships that strengthen our inclusive and supportive environment.
Fun was had by all, and you can check out photos of our students in action on the Community Activity Bulletin Board in the school!
Class Configuration Change
Thanks to one-time extra funding from the provincial government, we are excited to enhance student supports by increasing Education Assistant hours and hiring a new full-time Grade 5/6 teacher.
This decision was driven by high class sizes in Grade 5/6, with over 30 students in each grade. Additionally, we’ve seen a significant increase in new students joining these classes throughout the year meaning that with the addition of the new teacher we can now reorganize into two Grade 5 classes and two Grade 6 classes for the remainder of the school year.
We warmly welcome Ms. Carrie-Lee Ash, an experienced educator with over 20 years at the Calgary Board of Education, as our new Grade 5 teacher. She will join Ms. Bower and Ms. Frohlich on the Grade 5 team, while the Grade 6 team will be led by Mr. Close and Mr. Macdonald.
We’re excited about the positive impact these changes will bring!
Happy New Year!

Cambrian Heights Parent Association Update:
Next Meeting: January 23, 2025
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Please note that our School Council meeting on January 23, 2025, is also the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is one of the most important events for our School Council. At this meeting, elections for executive positions on School Council will take place, and all parents of students attending Cambrian Heights School are eligible for election. We are working with the school to provide an online option for parents to attend and participate. More information on that to come!
