School Update:
Cold Weather Reminder
As temperatures are forecast to drop significantly next week, we want to remind families to send children to school with warm clothing, including jackets, mitts, and toques. If your child needs any winter gear, please reach out—we have jackets, mitts, and toques available to support students.
We recognize the importance of outdoor breaks during the school day, and students should come prepared to be outside in all weather conditions. However, when temperatures reach -20°C or colder (including the wind-chill factor), CBE policy requires that students remain indoors for recess and lunch.
During indoor recesses, we create opportunities for students to stay active and engaged. Next week, intramurals are starting, and the gym will be busy with basketball for students in grades 3-6. Students will also have opportunities to play games and participate in other activities during these breaks.
Thank you for helping ensure students are dressed for the weather and ready for a great winter season ahead!
The Power of Unplugging: Finding Focus in a Digital World
As technology continues to shape our daily lives, it’s important to be mindful of how we—and our children—engage with it. This week, I wanted to share insights from Dr. Greg Wells’ latest blog, “The Focus Superpower: Unplug and Disconnect” which explores the benefits of intentional disconnection and the impact of constant connectivity on well-being.
Upcoming STEAM Family Evening at Cambrian Heights School
You are invited to our Cambrian Heights School STEAM family evening on Thursday, February 20 from 6:00PM - 7:30PM. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
STEAM learning and the Design Thinking process go hand in hand, with five key steps: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Join us for an evening of hands-on fun where you and your child, along with other families, will tackle a STEAM design and building challenge. Get ready to dive in and create together!
All students must have a family member who is 18+ to supervise during this evening. Please complete the 2-minute RSVP below to let us know how many people from your family to expect. There is no charge for the evening.
Click here for the RSVP link.
Cambrian Heights School Spirit Wear Returns!
Back by popular demand, our online clothing store will open again on Monday, January 27 and be available to purchase items until Friday, February 7. Teachers will be sending home the link to the online store, and we will send a School Messenger notification with more details.
Have a great weekend!

Moving forward, we’ll continue to send out a link to all families so you can easily join the meetings from wherever is most convenient for you. Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement!
