School Update:
Thank You for a Fantastic STEAM Evening and Book Fair!
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Evening and our first Scholastic Book Fair since 2018!
This year’s STEAM challenge invited families to think like scientists: "Scientists need the best boat to travel across a lake and study a rare species of fish." Families worked together to design and test boats, tackling challenges like:
- Making it to different parts of the lake – Can your boat float?
- Carrying supplies for exploration – How much weight can your boat hold?
- Being the first scientists to find the fish – Can your boat move quickly?
The creativity and teamwork on display were incredible, and it was wonderful to see our school community come together for an evening of hands-on learning and fun!
We also want to extend a special thank you to Samantha Pullen, our Library Assistant, for all her work in bringing back the Scholastic Book Fair – it was a huge success!

Thank You, Alberta Bible College!
We are incredibly grateful to our neighbors across the street at Alberta Bible College for generously offering us the use of their gymnasium to help our Grade 6 Girls and Boys Basketball teams prepare for their upcoming tournament on March 14.
Having access to a larger gym space and regulation basketball nets gives our students a fantastic opportunity to practice in the same kind of facilities they’ll experience next year in Junior High. This support makes a real difference in their preparation and confidence as they get ready to compete!
We truly appreciate the kindness of our neighbors at Alberta Bible College and the way they embody the value of connection and support. Thank you for helping us create more opportunities for our students!
Supporting Waste Reduction at Cambrian Heights School
As you may have seen in a communication from the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) earlier this week, the Calgary Board of Education received 72-hour strike notice from CUPE Local 40. This means CUPE Local 40 will withdraw its services effective Monday, February 24.
During this time, CBE is prioritizing in-person learning, and all schools and buildings will remain open. We are committed to ensuring schools remain a place where students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and safe. We appreciate the contributions of CUPE Local 40 members and respect the bargaining process as we work toward a new agreement in good faith.
One way parents can support us at this time is by having students take their food waste home. As we reduce our composting, we ask that students put items like apple cores, banana peels, and other food scraps back in their lunch kits to be recycled at home. Thank you for your support!
Have a great weekend!

Cambrian Heights Parent Association Update:
Next Meeting: Thursday, February 27, 2025
Our next School Council Meeting will include a School Planning Engagement Session hosted by the Principal (Todd Webber) and Assistant Principal (Erin Laberee Lee), where they will invite parents to share their input on future planning decisions at Cambrian Heights School.
The purpose of this part of the meeting is for the school to:
· Share information about school planning at Cambrian Heights School
· Gather feedback from parents that may be considered in making future school planning decisions
Parents will also have an opportunity to complete a survey during the meeting.
This meeting will be online only, and a link will be sent out early next week. We hope you’ll join us and share your thoughts!
