 School Update:

Welcoming Our Teacher and Education Assistant Candidates

At Cambrian Heights, we are proud to be a learning school - one where future educators come to grow, contribute, and refine their practice. Our reputation as a supportive and enriching learning environment continues to attract teacher and education assistant candidates from a variety of colleges and universities.

Most recently, we are excited to welcome Quinton Foulston, a teacher candidate from the University of Alberta’s Aboriginal Teacher Education Program, who will be joining Ms. Wong’s Grade 3/4 class from February 10 to April 25.

We also have four Mount Royal University Faculty of Education teacher candidates in their final year, who have been with us since January 6 and will continue until April 11.

  • Regan Merenick – with Ms. Greig’s Grade 1 class
  • Inayah Meghani – with Ms. Bauman’s Grade 1 class
  • Teagan O’Connor – with Ms. McDonald’s Grade 2 class
  • Kiera Gower – with Mr. Close’s Grade 6 class

From the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education, we are pleased to have Tim Lee returning to Ms. Bowers Grade 5 class to complete the final part of his practicum from February 19 to April 25.

Our school also benefits from the valuable contributions of Education Assistant candidates:

  • Chiharu Roy, from Bow Valley College’s Education Assistant Certificate Program, has been connected to Ms. Andrew’s Grade 3/4 class since January 14 and will continue until April 25.
  • Thandi Davitt, from Bow Valley College’s Behavior Support Worker Certificate Program, has been working with Mr. Steinke’s Bridges Class since January 13 and will continue until April 15.

Having these candidates in our school enriches our learning environment in so many ways. They bring fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn, while our students benefit from additional support and engaging interactions. At the same time, our staff take pride in mentoring the next generation of educators, helping shape the future of teaching and learning. We are grateful to have them with us and look forward to their continued contributions!

Upcoming STEAM Family Evening at Cambrian Heights School

You are invited to our Cambrian Heights School STEAM family evening on Thursday, February 20 from 6:00PM - 7:30PM.  STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

STEAM learning and the Design Thinking process go hand in hand, with five key steps: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Join us for an evening of hands-on fun where you and your child, along with other families, will tackle a STEAM design and building challenge. Get ready to dive in and create together!

All students must have a family member who is 18+ to supervise during this evening.  Please complete the 2-minute RSVP below to let us know how many people from your family to expect. There is no charge for the evening.

Click here for the RSVP link.

Have a great rest of the week & family day long weekend!
