School Update:
Students Embrace Our School Development Plan!
Today (Friday), two students from Ms. Bower's grade 5/6 class invited me to visit their room, and I was greeted by the entire class chanting "SDP! SDP!"—a fun nod to our School Development Plan. The students eagerly shared their understanding of the plan, explaining how they are improving their reading comprehension by making connections between texts and their own lives, making predictions, and setting personal goals in their visual journals.
I am so grateful for the dedication of our teachers in bringing our school goals to life and for the enthusiasm with which our students are engaging in this meaningful work. Check out the attachment below to see a sample visual journal page from one of Ms. Bower's students!

Thank you to Brookfield Residential!
A heartfelt thank you to Brookfield Residential for their generous donation to our school community. Through their B Merry initiative, which spreads kindness during the holiday season, they have gifted us 50 pairs of gloves to ensure our students stay warm during the winter months. We are incredibly grateful for their thoughtfulness and commitment to supporting local families. This gesture truly embodies the spirit of the season!
If your child needs a pair of gloves, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, or students can ask anytime—they’re here to help keep everyone warm!
Support Our Community: Holiday Donation Drive
From December 2–18, our school will collect donations for the Calgary Food Bank, Pathways Church, and families in need. Boxes will be available at the school, including on the night of the concert, for your contributions.
For the toy drive, we are accepting new, unwrapped toys.
Highly requested Food Bank items include:
- Canned goods (fruit, vegetables, soup, meat)
- Pasta, sauce, rice, cereal, peanut butter
- Hygiene products (soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant)
- Baby items (food, cereal, formula, open diaper packages)
- Pet food
Thank you for helping make the season brighter for those in need!
Have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing you at the Winter Concert and Holiday Market next Thursday!

Cambrian Heights Parent Association Update:
Next Meeting: January 23, 2025
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Please note that our School Council meeting on January 23, 2025 is also the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is one of the most important events for our School Council. At this meeting, elections for executive positions on School Council will take place, and all parents of students attending Cambrian Heights School are eligible for election. We are working with the school to provide an online option for parents to attend and participate. More information on that to come!
Purdy’s Fundraiser Update
Thank you again to all the families who participated in our Purdy’s fundraiser! Most orders have been picked up. There are still two orders at the school ready to pick up.
