School Update:
Winter Concert & Holiday Market Update
Invitations have been sent for our Winter Concert & Holiday Market on Thursday, December 12! A huge thank-you to our generous parent community who have already been reaching out about donating to the bake sale, and to our wonderful School Council for organizing a Purdys Chocolate table and a Gift Table with items priced at $1, $2, or $3.
A reminder to please arrive only at your child’s designated drop-off time to avoid overcrowding and ensure smooth transitions. We have a very small gym, so this also helps us accommodate everyone, including extended family members!
Our Gr. 6 Student Leaders will play an important role that evening by helping at the bake sale, supporting younger students during drop-offs, and acting as stage runners for performances. All proceeds from the bake sale will support the Grade 6 Outdoor School experience in March. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Gr. 6 Leaders to demonstrate responsibility, teamwork, and ownership of their fundraising efforts. We can’t wait to celebrate together!
School-Development Plan 2024-25 Posted Online
Our 2024-25 School Development Plan (SDP) is now available on our website! Visit Cambrian Heights School, click on About Us, then select Our School to view the full plan.
Our focus is on improving student achievement in Literacy, with an emphasis on enhancing reading comprehension across all grade levels.
In the first year, we’re using high-impact strategies consistently in every classroom, such as summarizing, predicting, and making connections to text. These practices will help students better understand and retain what they read.
How You Can Support This Work:
Encourage Reading at Home: Make reading part of your routine. Ask your child to explain the story or share their thoughts to build comprehension skills.
Discuss What They Read: Talk about books together. Questions like “What do you think will happen next?” or “Why did the character do that?” help deepen their understanding.
Stay Informed: Watch for updates in newsletters and reports to track your child’s progress and find ways to support them.
Together, we can help our students grow as confident, skilled readers
Have a great weekend!

Cambrian Heights Parent Association Update:
Next Meeting: January 23, 2025
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Please note that our School Council meeting on January 23, 2025 is also the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is one of the most important events for our School Council. At this meeting, elections for executive positions on School Council will take place, and all parents of students attending Cambrian Heights School are eligible for election. We are working with the school to provide an online option for parents to attend and participate. More information on that to come!
Purdy’s Fundraiser Update
Thank you again to all the families who participated in our Purdy’s fundraiser! Most orders have been picked up. Any families still needing to pick up, your order is at the school and ready to go.
