School Update:

Cougars Compete at Tri-School Basketball Tournament

Our Grade 6 basketball team had a fantastic opportunity this week to compete in the Tri-School Basketball Tournament alongside students from Beddington Heights School and Captain John Palliser School. Opportunities like this are incredibly valuable for students at the Elementary level. Competition helps students build confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship – skills that extend far beyond the court.

Our players represented Cambrian Heights with class and honour throughout the tournament. They showed tremendous respect for their opponents, referees, and teammates both on and off the court, demonstrating the kind of character we are proud to see in our students. The team played extremely well and finished the tournament as the second-best team, earning a hard-fought victory against Beddington Heights School along the way.

We are very proud of the way our students competed and the positive spirit they brought to the tournament. Experiences like this help build school pride, strengthen friendships, and create memories that students will carry with them for years to come.

Grade 2/3 Students Showcase Their Learning

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on Wednesday for our Grade 2/3 Sharing Assembly. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout in support of our students and their learning.

Over the past several weeks, students have been exploring Canada’s physical regions, comparing the natural resources found across those regions, and examining how natural resources are used in Alberta. They have also been learning about the connections between physical geography, natural resources, and the economic activities that shape communities across our province.

Students brought this learning to life during the assembly through poetry, descriptive writing, a lively song, and even a short play. It was fantastic to see the pride students took in sharing their learning and the creativity they brought to presenting their understanding.

Thank you again to our families for your continued support and to our Grade 2/3 teachers for creating such meaningful opportunities for students to showcase their learning. Events like this are a wonderful reminder of the powerful things that happen in our classrooms every day.

Teachers vs. Students Basketball Game

On Tuesday, our Grade 6 students and staff headed across the street to the Alberta Bible College gym for our second annual Teachers vs. Students Basketball Game, and it did not disappoint! The game was full of energy, laughter, and some impressive basketball from both sides as students took on their teachers in a little friendly competition.

Earlier in the week, Grade 6 students also selected their team captains, who proudly sported our brand-new Cambrian Heights jerseys. It was a great moment of Cougar pride and a fun way to build excitement leading into the tournament.

While the students certainly brought their A-game, the teachers may be feeling it a bit more the next day…there were already a few joking comments about aging knees and questionable ACL durability!

Events like this are quickly becoming a fun tradition at Cambrian Heights, bringing students and staff together to celebrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit. A big thank you to Alberta Bible College for once again allowing us to use their gym.

Parent–Teacher Conferences are an important part of the partnership between home and school. They’re a time to celebrate student growth, share insights about learning, and talk together about next steps. When families and educators work as a team, students benefit in meaningful ways – academically, socially, and emotionally.

We hope to see you there!

With gratitude,
